About the Test

The Male Tumour Markers Blood Test Profile is specifically designed to identify and quantify certain proteins that are often elevated in males with specific types of cancers. This profile helps in the detection, monitoring, and management of conditions associated with prostate, liver, gastrointestinal, and other cancers. The presence of these markers can be indicative of cancer, but elevated levels may also be seen in non-cancerous conditions. It is crucial for the interpretation of these results to be carried out in conjunction with other diagnostic tests and clinical evaluations.

What's Tested?

  • This test profile includes the following markers:

    • Total PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen): Used primarily to screen for and monitor prostate cancer.
    • Free PSA: Helps to distinguish between cancer-related and benign prostate abnormalities.
    • Total:Free PSA Ratio: Utilized to improve the accuracy in diagnosing prostate cancer, decreasing the number of unnecessary biopsies.
    • CA 19-9: Commonly associated with pancreatic cancer and other gastrointestinal cancers.
    • CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen): Indicates a variety of cancers including colorectal, gastrointestinal, and lung cancers; useful in assessing treatment response and detecting recurrence.
    • AFP (Alpha-fetoprotein): Generally elevated in liver cancer, but may also indicate other types of tumors, including testicular cancer.

Our tailored tests will help you discover health insights to assess your wellbeing.
