London Men’s Health Test
The Men’s Health package offered by our clinic Is used to do a health check that covers as many areas as possible, to see how your lifestyle is affecting your major organs and risk for diabetes and heart disease and if you, as a male you want an easy way to do a quick men’s health check.
London Blood Tests offers a Men’s Health which includes the following individual tests:
- Cardiac Troponin l (cTnl) £27
- N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) £45
- D-Dimer £22.50
- Cystatin C (CysC) £24
- High sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) £20
- Serum amyloid alpha (SAA) £30
A CTNL blood test is used for measuring the level of troponin in your blood. Troponin is a kind of protein found in the muscle of your heart, normally not found in the blood. When damage to the heart muscles happens, troponin is sent into the blood. This meaning when heart damage increases, greater amounts of troponin are released into the blood.
NT-PROBNP is a natriuretic peptide substance made by the heart. Usually, in the bloodstream are found small levels of NT-PROBNP, if the NT-PROBNP test result is higher it means your heart isn’t pumping as much blood as needed. This condition is also known as heart failure.
D Dimer test is used to help identify blood clotting problems. If the results of a D Dimer test are positive there might be a chance of a recent blood clot formation and other serious issues. This D Dimer test checks for a small protein being part of fibrin degradation products (FDPs).
A Cystatin C test measures the amount of Cystatin C in blood to help diagnose any kidney complication. It can be used to calculate your glomerular filtration rate (GFR). Kidney disease symptoms include weight loss, poor appetite, signs of oedema, shortness of breath, tiredness, blood in urine, itchy skin, and others.
A High Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein test is more sensitive than a standard CRP one, meaning it can detect slight increases in the levels given in the standard CRP test. A High Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein test is used to determine the risk of coronary artery disease, to diagnose a chronic inflammatory disease, such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, or even to evaluate the risk of a second heart attack.
An SAA test is intended for in vitro quantities of Serum Amyloid Alpha determination in serum, plasma, and blood. Also, it is used as an index for infection diagnosis.
