Details about Food Intolerance Panel
What is the Food Intolerance Panel?
The Food Intolerance Panel is an advanced blood test that measures IgG antibody reactivity to a comprehensive range of foods and food-derived antigens. Unlike food allergy tests (IgE), this panel focuses on delayed immune responses, which may contribute to chronic inflammation and long-term symptoms.
This panel is based on the IgG Food MAP methodology and includes testing for:
-
190 individual food antigens across all major food groups
-
Candida albicans
-
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast)
Foods assessed include:
-
Dairy products (milk, cheese, casein, whey, yoghurt)
-
Grains and gluten-related proteins (wheat, rye, barley, gliadin, quinoa, rice)
-
Fruits and vegetables (including citrus, nightshades, cruciferous vegetables)
-
Meat, poultry, fish, and seafood
-
Nuts, seeds, and legumes
-
Herbs, spices, teas, and miscellaneous food components
The test uses xMAP™ technology and can be performed via dried blood spot or venous blood sample.
Why do I need a Food Intolerance Panel?
Food intolerances are often difficult to identify because symptoms can appear hours or even days after consumption. Unlike allergies, reactions are not immediate and may affect multiple systems in the body.
You may benefit from this test if you experience:
-
Chronic bloating, gas, or digestive discomfort
-
Irritable bowel–type symptoms
-
Unexplained fatigue or low energy
-
Headaches or migraines
-
Skin issues such as eczema or acne
-
Joint or muscle pain
-
Brain fog or poor concentration
-
Symptoms that persist despite dietary changes
This test is commonly used to support elimination or rotation diets, helping reduce inflammatory food exposure.
Benefits of the Food Intolerance Panel
-
Extensive food coverage
Screens nearly all commonly consumed foods. -
Identifies delayed immune reactions
Targets IgG-mediated responses, not IgE allergies. -
Supports personalised nutrition plans
Guides elimination and reintroduction strategies. -
Useful for chronic, unexplained symptoms
Especially when standard tests are inconclusive. -
Includes yeast and candida markers
Provides broader gut-related immune insight. -
Non-invasive sampling option
Can be performed via dried blood spot. -
Evidence-based laboratory method
Uses validated xMAP™ technology. -
Reduces trial-and-error dieting
Focuses only on reactive foods.

Your Food Intolerance Panel results explained
Minimal to low IgG reactivity
Suggests little or no immune response to the tested food. These foods are generally well tolerated.
UK reference interpretation:
-
Minimal / Low: ≤50th percentile
Moderate IgG reactivity
Indicates a measurable immune response. Symptoms may occur depending on frequency and quantity of consumption.
UK reference interpretation:
-
Moderate: 50th–75th percentile
High to very high IgG reactivity
Suggests significant immune activation. These foods are commonly targeted in elimination diets to reduce inflammation and symptoms.
UK reference interpretation:
-
High / Very High: >75th percentile

Follow these guidelines for accurate results
Sample Timing
Where possible, attend your blood test between 7am and 12pm. Please wait until any short-term illness or infection has fully resolved before testing. Avoid intense exercise for 24–48 hours beforehand, as this can affect certain markers.
Fasting & Hydration
Fasting is not always required, but some tests may recommend it. If fasting is advised, avoid food for 8–12 hours before your appointment and drink water only. Stay well hydrated, as this helps with sample collection and accuracy.
Medications & Supplements
Continue prescribed medications unless advised otherwise by your clinician. Avoid vitamin, mineral, or biotin supplements for at least 24–48 hours before your test, as these can interfere with results. If you are unsure about any medication or supplement, please let us know before your appointment.
Hormones & Menstrual Cycle
For hormone-related tests, timing within your menstrual cycle may be important. If relevant, follow any specific guidance provided on your test page.
If you have any questions or special circumstances, our team is happy to advise before your appointment.
