Details about General Health Profile
What is the General Health Profile?
The General Health Profile is a comprehensive blood test designed to assess overall health, metabolism, and organ function. It combines cardiovascular risk markers, blood sugar control, liver and kidney function, and key biochemical indicators to give a clear snapshot of your current health status.
This profile includes:
-
Cholesterol – Total
-
High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) Cholesterol
-
Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL)
-
Non-HDL Cholesterol
-
Triglycerides
-
Total Cholesterol : HDL Ratio
-
HbA1c (Glycosylated Haemoglobin)
-
Albumin
-
Calcium & Adjusted Calcium
-
Iron
-
Urate (Uric Acid)
-
Urea
-
Creatinine
-
Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR)
-
Total Bilirubin
-
Alanine Transaminase (ALT)
-
Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP)
-
Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT)
Together, these markers assess heart health, diabetes risk, liver and kidney function, and metabolic balance.
Why do I need a General Health Profile?
Many chronic conditions develop silently before symptoms appear. A general health blood test helps identify early changes that may increase long-term health risks.
This profile is ideal for routine monitoring, health optimisation, or baseline assessment before lifestyle or treatment changes.
You may benefit from this test if you:
-
Want a comprehensive health check
-
Have a family history of heart disease or diabetes
-
Experience fatigue or low energy
-
Are monitoring cholesterol or blood sugar
-
Want to assess liver or kidney health
-
Are managing weight or metabolic health
-
Are starting a new fitness or nutrition plan
-
Want preventive insight into future health risks
Benefits of the General Health Profile

Your General Health Profile results explained
Results below reference range
Low levels of markers such as albumin, iron, or calcium may indicate nutritional deficiency, absorption issues, or chronic illness. Low cholesterol fractions may occasionally reflect malnutrition or metabolic imbalance.
UK reference interpretation:
-
Low: Below laboratory reference ranges
Results within reference range
Results within range suggest good metabolic, cardiovascular, liver, and kidney health at the time of testing. This supports effective organ function and balanced metabolism.
UK reference interpretation:
-
Normal: Within laboratory reference ranges
Results above reference range
Elevated cholesterol, triglycerides, HbA1c, liver enzymes, urate, or creatinine may indicate increased cardiovascular risk, impaired glucose control, liver stress, kidney strain, or metabolic imbalance.
Early identification allows preventive intervention.
UK reference interpretation:
-
High: Above laboratory reference ranges

WhatsApp UsHow to Prepare for Your Test
Follow these guidelines for accurate results
Sample Timing
Where possible, attend your blood test between 7am and 12pm. Please wait until any short-term illness or infection has fully resolved before testing. Avoid intense exercise for 24–48 hours beforehand, as this can affect certain markers.
Fasting & Hydration
Fasting is not always required, but some tests may recommend it. If fasting is advised, avoid food for 8–12 hours before your appointment and drink water only. Stay well hydrated, as this helps with sample collection and accuracy.
Medications & Supplements
Continue prescribed medications unless advised otherwise by your clinician. Avoid vitamin, mineral, or biotin supplements for at least 24–48 hours before your test, as these can interfere with results. If you are unsure about any medication or supplement, please let us know before your appointment.
Hormones & Menstrual Cycle
For hormone-related tests, timing within your menstrual cycle may be important. If relevant, follow any specific guidance provided on your test page.
If you have any questions or special circumstances, our team is happy to advise before your appointment.
