1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (Calcitriol)
This test measures 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, the biologically active form of vitamin D. It is used to investigate calcium imbalance, kidney disease and...

SelectedThe HRT Baseline Screening Profile is a comprehensive pre-treatment blood panel designed to evaluate whether your body is prepared for hormone replacement therapy safely and effectively. It measures reproductive hormones alongside thyroid function, metabolic markers, cardiovascular risk, and nutrient status — all factors that influence hormone response and treatment outcomes.
Establishing a baseline before starting HRT allows clinicians to personalise therapy, optimise dosing, and reduce the risk of unwanted side effects or complications.
Oestradiol (E2)
Progesterone
Testosterone (Total and Free)
Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)
Free Androgen Index (calculated)
Luteinising Hormone (LH)
Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
Prolactin
These markers assess reproductive hormone balance, menopausal status, and androgen activity.
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
Free Thyroxine (Free T4)
Free Tri-iodothyronine (Free T3)
Thyroid health strongly influences metabolism, energy, and hormone responsiveness.
Fasting Glucose
HbA1c
Lipid Profile (Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides)
These markers assess metabolic health and cardiovascular risk prior to hormone therapy.
Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT)
Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST)
Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP)
Gamma-Glutamyltransferase (GGT)
Bilirubin
Albumin
Creatinine
eGFR
Urea
Organ function testing ensures hormones can be metabolised safely.
High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP)
Full Blood Count (FBC)
These markers evaluate inflammation and overall cardiovascular health risk.
Vitamin D
Vitamin B12
Folate
Ferritin
Iron Studies
Nutrient status significantly influences hormone metabolism, energy levels, and treatment response.
Hormone therapy interacts with multiple body systems, not just reproductive hormones. Without proper screening, underlying metabolic or thyroid issues may be missed, leading to poor symptom improvement or increased risk.
This test is recommended if you:
• Are considering HRT or hormone optimisation
• Have menopausal or perimenopausal symptoms
• Experience fatigue, weight gain, or mood changes
• Want a safe personalised hormone plan
• Are starting testosterone therapy
• Want objective baseline data before treatment
Expanded benefit explanation
By assessing hormones alongside safety markers, this panel ensures HRT is initiated with the highest level of clinical insight and safety.

Where possible, attend your blood test between 7am and 12pm. Please wait until any short-term illness or infection has fully resolved before testing. Avoid intense exercise for 24–48 hours beforehand, as this can affect certain markers.
Fasting is not always required, but some tests may recommend it. If fasting is advised, avoid food for 8–12 hours before your appointment and drink water only. Stay well hydrated, as this helps with sample collection and accuracy.
Continue prescribed medications unless advised otherwise by your clinician. Avoid vitamin, mineral, or biotin supplements for at least 24–48 hours before your test, as these can interfere with results. If you are unsure about any medication or supplement, please let us know before your appointment.
For hormone-related tests, timing within your menstrual cycle may be important. If relevant, follow any specific guidance provided on your test page.
If you have any questions or special circumstances, our team is happy to advise before your appointment.
