Details about Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is a group of conditions that significantly increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, weight gain, and chronic inflammation. These conditions often develop silently, with symptoms such as fatigue, slow metabolism, abdominal weight gain, insulin resistance, and persistent inflammation appearing gradually.
The Metabolic Syndrome Profile is designed to detect early biochemical changes linked to metabolic dysfunction, helping you identify risks long before they progress into more serious health issues.
This panel is ideal for individuals who are overweight, experiencing blood sugar fluctuations, dealing with chronic inflammation, or wanting a deeper understanding of their metabolic health.
What’s Tested?
This profile includes 4 key biomarkers that provide a detailed assessment of inflammation, insulin sensitivity, fat-cell activity, and metabolic risk.
Metabolic Syndrome Biomarkers
-
Leptin: A hormone released by fat cells that regulates hunger and fat storage. High leptin levels may indicate leptin resistance, a driver of weight gain and metabolic dysfunction.
-
Adiponectin: A beneficial hormone that supports insulin sensitivity, fat burning, and cardiovascular health. Low adiponectin levels are often linked to metabolic syndrome, obesity, and type 2 diabetes.
-
Resistin: A hormone associated with inflammation and insulin resistance. Elevated levels are linked to metabolic disease, chronic inflammation, and cardiovascular risk.
-
High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP): A highly sensitive inflammatory marker used to assess cardiovascular risk, chronic inflammation, and metabolic stress within the body.

Detects early signs of metabolic dysfunction;
Helps assess risk for diabetes, heart disease, and chronic inflammation;
Ideal for weight management concerns, fatigue, and slow metabolism;
Provides insight into hormonal and inflammatory contributors to metabolic imbalance;
Fast and reliable laboratory analysis.

Follow these guidelines for accurate results
Sample Timing
Where possible, attend your blood test between 7am and 12pm. Please wait until any short-term illness or infection has fully resolved before testing. Avoid intense exercise for 24–48 hours beforehand, as this can affect certain markers.
Fasting & Hydration
Fasting is not always required, but some tests may recommend it. If fasting is advised, avoid food for 8–12 hours before your appointment and drink water only. Stay well hydrated, as this helps with sample collection and accuracy.
Medications & Supplements
Continue prescribed medications unless advised otherwise by your clinician. Avoid vitamin, mineral, or biotin supplements for at least 24–48 hours before your test, as these can interfere with results. If you are unsure about any medication or supplement, please let us know before your appointment.
Hormones & Menstrual Cycle
For hormone-related tests, timing within your menstrual cycle may be important. If relevant, follow any specific guidance provided on your test page.
If you have any questions or special circumstances, our team is happy to advise before your appointment.
